How to Scale Russian Solutions
A session on Russian hardware and software solutions was organized and held at the "Technoprom" forum in Novosibirsk on June 21, 2017, initiated by the IT cluster of the Novosibirsk region and NP "Russoft" with the support of JSC "Russian Electronics" and the Cluster Development Center of the Novosibirsk region. UNIPRO actively participated in preparing and organizing the session, presenting the results of its work on developing system software for the Russian "Elbrus" hardware platforms.
The session brought together an interested group of participants, including the creators of the "Elbrus" computing systems and those who already use domestic processors in their projects, as well as system software developers and developers of applied information systems.
A wide range of topics was discussed, including the relevance of the approach taken in the "Elbrus" architecture in light of Moore's law slowing down and the increasing cost of transitioning to new technological processes. Energy efficiency, programmability, and security—these qualities of the "Elbrus" processors could soon give them competitive advantages and place them among the leading global platforms. How to achieve this without losing time and resources, and without the power of global IT giants, became a "hot" topic of discussion.
Participants were interested in the idea of creating an ecosystem around the "Elbrus" platform, as well as the possibility of establishing an engineering center in our city where interested developers and system integrators could test new software solutions on the Russian hardware base and new platforms and then bring them to market.
You can read more about this in the publication on the Electronic Government portal and the news from the "SibAkademSoft" Association. A video of the session can be watched here.
