UGENE at VEME School 2019
In early August, our UGENE team participated in the annual international school for biologists focused on virology and epidemiology, VEME 2019 in Hong Kong. For the fourth year in a row, our bioinformatics programmers trained young biologists on how to efficiently solve the challenges in their research using the methods and tools integrated into the open-source bioinformatics platform Unipro UGENE. This year, the list of tools has expanded with the addition of a metagenomics module developed over the last year in collaboration with the international VIROGENESIS project. The school annually gathers an impressive lineup of instructors from research centers at the cutting edge of science. We are happy to assist scientists in deepening their understanding of microorganism evolution, rapid identification, and classification. After all, this work ultimately contributes to the biological security of our entire planet.
